Apple might have sold 500,000 units of iPhone over the weekend
Market analysts have said that Apple might have managed to sell as many as 500,000 units of their Apple iPhone device over the weekend.
This means that the company could in fact make iPhone the success they are aiming for. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said in a statement that they now believe that Apple managed to sell that many units over the period. They had earlier predicted sales of 200,000 units.
J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. analyst Bill Shope said that as per their estimates the sales of Apple iPhone touched around 312,000 units. They had expected the company to sell 50,000 to 200,000 units.
Munster stated in his report: “This is a very successfully handled launch. The real sign of success would be what kind of legs this product has in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, we estimate a third of Apple’s sales will be from iPhone. This is a huge product.”
The Apple iPhone is being sold in the market for $499 and $599 depending upon the memory in the device.
