Corporates warned to stay away from Google Desktop Search

Recently a critical flaw was discovered in the very popular Google Desktop Search. Google fixed the bug and released the update before the news was made public. Still, research analysts are critical of this new genre of softwares suddenly appearing from nowhere from all the big search engine giants.

They are recommending corporations to stay away from this first generation of desktop search utilities and for a good reason. The softwares are still being tested and new bugs and glitches are expected to come out with time. They should wait for these applications to stabilize a little bit before they are implemented on networks.

Gartner Web site shows an alert posted by analysts Whit Andrews and Ray Wagner which says: “Google’s search tool, and its soon-to-be-introduced competitors, may be suitable for enterprise use in the long term, but not yet been adequately vetted for security.”

And with Yahoo! still to enter in this field, the competition is only going to get more complicated with more releases expected from various players in the market.
