European Commission opens up EUtube on YouTube

The European Commission has now announced that they are opening their own section on the Google owned YouTube service named EUtube to showcase the policies and inner workings of the European Union.

The channel comes with the tag line: “Sharing the Sights and Sounds of Europe”. The launch video hosted on the service is a 40-second animated cartoon entitled “Everyone Can Save The Planet.”

The EU Commission said that they would be using this new channel to carry video news releases and other clips created to explain EU policy.

Mikolaj Dowgielewicz, a spokesman for Margot Wallstrom, the European commissioner said in a statement: “It’s part of our strategy to use the tools that people use.”

The videos posted by the European Commission would be open for user feedback.
