Fiat brings back Cinquecento (500)
Italian automaker Fiat has announced that they are going to launch Cinquecento model on its 50th birthday.
The car would be launched again in the markets after being out of production for 32 years.
The new edition of the Fiat 500 would be slightly bigger than the original version which was hugely popular in its days.
The company is aiming to emulate Apple by launching this car in several variants. Fiat’s chief executive Sergio Marchionne said in a statement: “I want Fiat to become the Apple of cars. And the Cinquecento will be our iPod.”
Fiat Cinquecento has been an automotive icon just like the Mini and the Beetle. Market sources say that Fiat is likely to price the car at about 10,000 Euros ($13,600).
Fiat said that they have already received enough orders of the cars to meet half of their yearly production targets.
