Apple sue three for leaking upcoming Tiger OS
Manufacturers of Macintosh computers and iPod music player, Apple have sued three people who allegedly leaked preview versions of their upcoming operating system Tiger. Apple claims that these three individuals released the test versions on popular file sharing networks breaking a contract. This was done on two separate occasions in October and December.
Apple has been quite pro-active about protecting its future products by such kind of leaks. Tiger Operating System is due for launch in 2005 and preview versions could have lessened the excitement in the market. They also sued some other people last week for similar claims of leaking Apple product previews on the web.
The three people sued in the latest round were apparently members of Apple Developer Connection. The members of this group get the test releases by Apple under strict confidentiality agreements to let them develop and update existing software to get them ready by the launch dates. The p2p network used for these leaks is reported to be Bittorrent, which recently came under fire from MPAA.
One of the most popular Bittorrent sites Suprnova.org was forced to shut down earlier this week causing furor in general public.
