Air Berlin places order for 25 Boeing 787s
Boeing has confirmed that they have now received confirmed order for as many as 25 of their 787 planes from German low-cost airline Air Berlin.
Air Berlin is based in Germany and is Europe’s third largest low-fare carrier. The company would use these planes to add new routes to long-haul destinations to provide flights to Asia and the United States from Germany.
The order is worth close to around USD 4 billion at cost price of the planes. This new order is incidentally the biggest single order for the new plane from the US based aircraft manufacturer.
Boeing further said that with this they now have 677 firm orders for 787s.
The company further said that Air Berlin had taken options to buy a further 10 787s and had agreed purchase rights for another 15 planes.
