Microsoft aQuantive deal approved by Federal Trade Commission

Microsoft and aQuantive have revealed that the recent deal signed between them has now cleared an antitrust regulatory hurdle.

Microsoft acquired aQuantive for a massive USD 6 billion. Tom Phillips, a spokesman for Seattle-based aQuantive confirmed the deal in a statement saying: “We’re obviously pleased.”

He added that the two companies are already working on how they would merge with the world’s largest software company.

aQuantive employs 2,560 people worldwide.

Incidentally, Microsoft’s rival Google had also acquired another online advertising company DoubleClick but that deal continues to face government opposition.

Microsoft is hoping that aQuantive deal would help them close the lead on Google in the online advertising market.
