Google acquires hosted security service provider Postini
Search engine company Google has announced their latest acquisition. Google has now acquired the hosted security service provider Postini.
The deal is worth around $625 million and it is being conducted in a cash only transaction.
Google added that Postini would now become their wholly owned subsidiary and they hope to complete the deal by the third quarter of the current year.
Dave Girouard, vice president and general manager at Google Enterprise spoke on this acquisition deal: “This really does reaffirm our commitment to delivering hosted applications to small businesses. The history of Google Apps goes back to the launch of Gmail in 2004. In February, we launched [the fee-based] Google Apps Premier Edition.”
He added: “You’ll have the best of both worlds. There’s nothing to install, there’s nothing to maintain. Our products are very neutral and very scalable. More than a 1,000 small businesses have signed up every day.”
Girouard further said that existing customers of Postini have no reasons to get worried. The company would continue to support standalone Postini products “indefinitely”.
