Congoo: Another Digg challenger makes an entry
Congoo is a new news aggregation site which would enable its users to decide on the placement of articles by voting on items they like or dislike.
The website is currently gathering news and articles from about 25,000 news sources and is using algorithms to calculate their positioning.
Their formulas are used to decide which story heads the individual categories on the website. They have around 500 predefined categories.
The service is now planning to allow web users to add on stories which does not get listed on the service. Ash Nashed, Congoo’s founder spoke about their service: “At the end of the day we do feel we have a good proprietary algorithm, but we do miss stories.”
The difference compared to Digg (another similar service on the web) is that only those stories are accepted which are from one of the sources checked by Congoo.
Nashed added: “We’re creating a nice network for people to promote their business ideas to those who share those interests.”
