Creative wants a part of the Apple’s Pie

Apple has done extremely well in the digital music market. They sell the largest number of portable digital music player in the form of iPod and they sell even more songs on their music store iTunes. Competition has been sluggish with both Sony and Creative realizing what they were missing on till very late.

Sony is trying to make a comeback with their latest series of MP3 compatible players, but it is Creative who has practically declared war on Apple. They are aiming to capture around 40% of the market dominated by Apple and are planning to spend big bucks on advertising. Their budget is reported to be in the region of USD 100 million.

Apple on the other hand is concentrating on enhancing the offerings of the iPod package. Not only did the consumers got photo compatible models in the form of iPod Photo, rumors are floating about models with even bigger hard disks. Other reports say that Apple would soon be releasing Flash Memory compatible iPods.

Moreover, to top it all, they are already working in collaboration with Motorola to release mobile phones, which can play digital music bought from iTunes. Looks like, the market is yet to reach a peak, and we have not heard the last from any of these companies.
