Warner Music Group enters into a deal with imeem
Warner Music Group Corp. has announced that they have now dropped their lawsuit against the social networking website imeem.
The lawsuit claimed that the web service was promoting copyright infringement. Warner further announced that they have entered a deal with the service to license its music and video content.
They would now take a share of the online advertisement revenue in return. The details of the financial agreement signed between the two companies have not been revealed.
As a result of this deal imeem Inc. would now be able to carry music and videos from the artists affiliated to Warner Music. This include media content featuring Madonna, Linkin Park and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Warner has now become the first of the major record label to sign a licensing deal with imeem.
Looks like the lawsuit was filed just to get imeem to get into talks for such a deal with the company!
