Logitech launches Nintendo Wiimote inspired MX Air Mouse
If you wanted a mouse that could have acted as a remote control, Logitech just has the perfect solution for you.
The company has launched their latest mouse product named MX Air Mouse. The interesting thing about this mouse is that it can work in air as in it does not require a hard surface to work.
It works as a regular mouse as long as it is placed on a surface. Once in air, user can move the mouse up, down, sideways or in a circle to navigate.
They can also make selections on the screen using the buttons on the mouse just like a remote control.
It also somewhat resembles the way Nintendo’s Wiimote works with the on screen options…
The mouse also features a touch-sensitive scroll panel in place of a scroll wheel.
Andy Hengel, a product manager at Logitech said in a statement that they designed this mouse for people who used PCs for entertainment. The mouse compliments the Windows Media Center Edition PC.
The mouse is currently compatible with Windows XP and Vista and a future update is expected to make it work on the Mac OS X platform.
It would sell for USD 149.99 and would be available in the retail markets this coming August.

Mice that don’t have to be used on surfaces have been in existance for almost three years. They might not look like a remote, but their gyroscope allows them to be held in the air and moved about, as the cursor on the screen follows.
This idea is nothing new.
