Hollywood Records launches CDVU+ Audio CD format
Music companies in the US market are facing falling sales of Music CDs as digital media stores are getting increasingly popular.
Piracy of the media on the net is also not helping the cause as they struggle to entice the customers to continue purchasing Audio CDs.
Walt Disney Co. has now revealed that their music label Hollywood Records is now going to offer a new CD format named CDVU+ (CD View Plus).
This new format would let them offer Music CDs with digital magazine extras, song lyrics, band photos and other extras.
The company said that Jonas Brothers will be the music band to use the technology. Their album is due to release this coming August.
Ken Bunt, Hollywood Records’ senior vice president of marketing spoke on this new development: “We really believe if you’re going to give consumers what they want, we should do it in a way they’re used to.”
