Nokia launches a faster GPS-based navigation service

World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has announced the launch of a new service for the owners of their GPS enabled mobile devices.

The company said that this new service would cut the time a GPS-enabled cellphone takes to pinpoint its whereabouts.

Nokia claims that this new service would cut the startup time to one minute, from up to three minutes currently.

Ralph Eric Kunz, head of Nokia’s navigation and mapping operations added in a statement: “It will be reliably under one minute in most countries.”

Nokia’s N95 is one of the first handset to be able to use this new service from the company. Nokia is now said to be working on more handsets to feature inbuilt GPS technology.
