Microsoft to deliver ads over municipal Wi-Fi networks

Software giant Microsoft has announced that they are now going to work with San Francisco-based provider of mobile broadband advertising JiWire to deliver advertising to users of municipal Wi-Fi networks.

The two companies are also going to deliver location-based content from Microsoft’s MSN portal on these networks.

JiWire is already providing their services to MetroFi and MichTel in addition to 18 other network operators.

Microsoft and JiWire said in a joint statement that they are also going to explore other ways to deliver advertising.

David Blumenfeld, vice president of marketing at JiWire added in a statement that their deal with Microsoft is a nonexclusive, ad-revenue sharing deal and is a multi million-dollar opportunity for both companies.
