Google to concentrate on Universal Search and Translation Technology

Google is the world’s leading search engine company and has continued to dominate the market with growing market share in the recent months.

The company has now said that they plan to continue their efforts on enhancing their Universal search offering along with improved translation technologies.

Marissa Mayer, Google’s vice president, search products and user experience said in a statement on this topic: “CLIR (cross language information retrieval) is better if we can search all the Web pages in every language and return the best search results.”

She added giving an example: “Only one percent of the content on the Web is written in Arabic. With this kind of technology… if you can imagine us taking that query in Arabic and translating into other languages, it really increases the breadth of the results.”

She further said that the company has just begun on their effort to provide a Universal search environment to the web users. They are also going to improve upon their other offerings including Google Book Search and Google Patent Search to generate even more accurate results for the end user.
