Apple iPod is the pick of the Holiday Shoppers

Apple has been revolutionizing computer technology since a long time. They brought GUI to the end user, which later Microsoft picked up. However, with iPod they struck gold. A tiny device small enough to fit in a shirt pocket powered by a rechargeable battery can hold around 10,000 songs and still be cool! And it has been one of the best sellers this year in shops and online stores. People cannot seem to get enough of it and Apple is finding it tough to keep up with the demand.

Media has almost declared it to be the Christmas gift of 2004. It has become a teen icon with everyone wanting to own one. And holiday season has just added fuel to the already brightly burning fire. Apple is expected to have sold around 4 million of these devices by the time the year ends in the last 3 months alone. If numbers are to be considered apple is selling around 5 times more iPods this year.

Most online retailers are already out of them leading to long queues of fans and wannabe iPod owners outside the Apple Stores. This is simply amazing considering the device is relatively expensive at prices between USD 299 and 499. Apple has managed to keep the craze alive with special offerings like U2 iPod and of course the iPod Photo. Still, the plain-jane music-playing version is the largest selling model of the lot.

It has replaced the traditional walkmans from a typical teen’s cupboard. With ability to buy songs through PayPal, Apple is making it easier for the users to get songs from their another successful venture iTunes. What more, even Newsweek magazine dared to declare USA, the iPod Nation!
