Twentieth Century Fox wins ownership rights to The Simpsons Movie domain name
World Intellectual Property Organization has ruled that the Twentieth Century Fox is the right owner of the thesimpsonsmovie.com domain name.
The company already owns the rights to the film and the popular TV series.
Twentieth Century Fox had earlier complained regarding this domain name which was booked by Keith Malley of Brooklyn, New York.
Malley has been using this domain name to forward the traffic to his own websites. Twentieth Century Fox claimed that Malley was demanding a $50,000 fee for handing over the ownership of the domain.
WIPO arbitration panel said in its ruling that Malley “has no rights or legitimate interests with respect to the domain name” and ordered its immediate return.
The panel further noted that “The animated television series ‘The Simpsons’ debuted in 1989, and has become one of the longest running network series in television history.”
