Intel has started shipping their fastest Quad-Core Server Microprocessors
Microprocessor industry giant Intel has now confirmed that they are shipping their Quad-Core Server Microprocessors.
These processors are from their fastest quad-core Xeon server platform, formerly codenamed Caneland.
The company said that his platform comprises the Xeon processor 7300 series and the Intel 7300 chipset.
These chips are being made available to original equipment manufacturers and are in volume production running at 2.93GHz.
Intel further claims that these new processors delivers up to twice the performance compared to Intel’s dual-core Xeon 7100 processor series.
The company has also made available their development tools for building applications on multi-core processors under the open source GNU General Public License. This application set is named Threading Building Blocks.
