Nokia opens up a global design studio in India
It’s pretty clear that Nokia takes India to be a very important market for them. The company has already started manufacturing mobile phones in India to cater to the local audience.
Nokia has now announced plans to open up their global design studio in the country as they aim to stay ahead of rival Motorola in this crucial market.
The company said that this studio would come up in Bangalore which is considered to be the Silicon Valley of India.
This center would also be the first of a series of “satellite” design centers being established by Nokia with another center coming up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Hannu Nieminen, head of innovations at Nokia Design said in a statement on this new development: “Design is not just about the look and feel of the handset but equally important is what it can do for people and how it fits into their lives. Designers must be exposed to how people live and work in different places around the world.”
Nokia is the world’s largest mobile phone maker and also dominates the Indian market.
