Lenovo to sell a $199 basic PC in China to boost sales
Chinese personal computer maker Lenovo has said that they are now going to target China’s vast but poor rural market by offering a cheap basic PC for prices as low as USD 199.
This would take on a similar product being planned by Dell which is the second largest PC maker in the world.
The company is expanding abroad but is eager to maintain its dominance in China.
This new upcoming machine from Lenovo would allow the owners to use their television set as a monitor.
This new product range is expected to be priced between $199 to $399. Dell recently announced their plans to launch new products for China priced at $223 to $515.
Lenovo representative Jay Chen spoke on these plans: “It’s a natural evolution. We are not responding to our competitors. After three years of market development in low-tier markets we have gained experience and understanding.”
