MySpace collaborates with The Onion news satire site
MySpace has announced that they are collaborating with The Onion news satire site. They are now adding a new section on MySpace.com featuring the content from The Onion.
Onion president Sean Mills said in a statement on this deal with MySpace: “The news business is like the tobacco business: you want to reach new readers at as young and impressionable an age as possible. MySpace was, of course, a natural partner in that regard.”
MySpace general manager Jeff Berman added: “The Wall Street Journal is all well and good, but The Onion News Network represents the best in hard-hitting investigative journalism — at least on MySpace.”
The Onion runs its own news network at http://www.theonion.com. They are quite popular on the internet with their well researched satirical pieces of news items.
The two companies did not disclose the financial aspects of their deal.
