Blockbuster acquires movie download service Movielink

US based movie rental service Blockbuster has announced that they have acquired the online movie download service Movielink.

This would give them an edge in this new market which is also being targeted by their prime rival Netflix.

Market sources say that they had been in talks for this deal with Movielink since March this year. The financial aspects of this deal are not released to the media.

The market for online music downloads is small at the moment by the movie industry is hoping that this would help them cater to the people who are interested in getting movies through the internet.

This is also a major move from Blockbuster which is working on expanding their services beyond the store-based movie-rental market.
