American Airlines suing Google over online advertisements on trademarked keywords
US based airline company American Airlines is now suing the search engine giant Google. They are claiming that Google sells keywords ads for rival companies on searches related to their owned trademarks.
They filed this lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Fort Worth and are also seeking unspecified damages.
Online advertising is the primary source of Google and they allow companies to bid on keywords. These ads are then placed on search results when a user searches for the keywords on the Google Search Engine.
Billy Sanez, a spokesman for American Airlines said in a statement on this new lawsuit: “When done right, search is a great tool, but we have a problem with this part of their business.”
They claim that these kind of advertisements to rival companies confuse their potential customers driving away business opportunities.
