UniverCell to expand in Southern India with 100 stores
Mobile retailer UniverCell has announced that they are now planning a mega expansion by opening 100 new stores in south India by the end of September.
The company is also hoping to establish a presence throughout the country in the coming years.
They are currently operating 49 stores in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. They have also just opened seven stores in Bangalore on Saturday.
A company representative said in a statement on their plans: “We propose to ramp it (the number of stores) up to 300 in 2008-09 in a pan-India initiative.”
They are now planning to open 40 stores each in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and 10 in Kerala.
They are also planning to launch a franchise model by September next year.

Im interested in taking a franchise for Univercell in my Area (Adambakkam , Alandur and Madipakkam ) . there are 4 Mobile Stores in Adambakkam . Wave tel , poorvika , Crystel Cell City , Subkisha , Mobile Store .
there is scope for growth as Univercell does not have a store in any of these three places .
