Sharp displays a 2 CM thick LCD TV prototype

Sharp has showcased a prototype of a LCD TV with technologies not yet present on current generation models.

The company said that some of these technologies could soon be featured on their upcoming products.

This prototype TV is just 2 centimeters thick and is capable of getting television signals wirelessly.

The prototype unit is built around a 52-inch LCD panel manufactured at their Kameyama factory in Japan.

Sharp claims that the television set has a high contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and as a result it provides a clear, vivid image even in bright rooms.

It is also capable of color reproduction that’s 50 percent greater than that provided by an NTSC signal.

It also has a neat 4 millisecond response time and has an estimated power consumption of 140kWh per year which comes to around half of their current generation displays.
