MySpace and MTV to enable youth interaction with US presidential candidates
This time the US presidential candidates are going to be really interesting. New technologies are enabling media to conduct interactions which would have been impossible before.
MySpace and MTV have announced a novel initiative which would enable candidates for the US presidency to conduct discussions with young people through online webcasts.
The two companies would conduct interactive real-time presidential dialogues.
MySpace senior vice president of public affairs Jeff Berman said in a statement on this initiative: “It is really a digital extension of the Iowa or New Hampshire living room where a candidate walks into someone’s home to have a dialogue. We are offering one-on-one conversations rather than the big clusters of candidates on stage all struggling to get their sound bites in.”
MTV vice president of strategic partnerships Ian Rowe added: “For the first time there will be a true digital representation of the community’s opinion while the discussion is happening. Given the nature of our audience we think they will be very excited.”
