Seagate set to launch their solid state drives
World’s largest hard disk maker Seagate is reported to be working on adding solid-state drives based on flash memory chips to its lineup of storage products.
Bill Watkins, the company’s CEO said in a statement on their plans: “We have solid-state drives on every road map that we have.”
These memory drives are based on flash memory instead of using magnetic disks to store information.
The company did not reveal any information on how soon these products would be available in the retail market.
Seagate is however already selling hybrid drives which combines the two technologies. These drives are available in capacities of up to 160 GB.
