Yahoo to enable text messaging from Yahoo Mail

Internet giants Yahoo is due to add more functionality to their Yahoo Mail service. The company plans to add features which would allow the users of the Yahoo Mail service to send text messages to mobile phones.

The company would begin by offering this service to Yahoo Mail users in United States, Canada, India and the Philippines.

Yahoo Vice President John Kremer said in a statement on this new feature addition: “We’re giving you the right way to connect at the right time with right person.”

This is just the latest feature addition in their webmail service as they compete with Google Gmail and Microsoft’s Live Hotmail.

The company recently enhanced the web mail service to have unlimited storage capabilities for all users.

Market analyst Mike McGuire had this to say on this Yahoo initiative: “This gives people the ability to reach anybody in their contact database anytime. For good or evil, it’s going to be much easier for anybody to get a hold of you.”
