Swisscom Mobile Introduces Ad-Supported Mobile Music Videos
Ad-Enabled Content Gives Mobile Consumers the Music they Crave and Advertisers the Contextual Platform to Reach Them
Swisscom Mobile today launched an ad-enabled mobile music video service through their Vodafone live! portal, offering customers an extended choice of music content ranging from the biggest names in music, to local artists, to rising stars.
Today’s launch represents the second phase of Swisscom Mobile’s pilot program in mobile advertising, which is being carried out in collaboration with Ad Infuse and Minick, leaders in delivering highly personalized mobile advertising experiences and video streaming solutions. In early June, Swisscom Mobile together with Ad Infuse and Minick launched Switzerland’s first ad-supported video service, which freed customers from paying for streaming video on their mobile devices. The pilot program initially focused on a comedy channel and has now been extended into the music video space with today’s announcement.
“Music videos on mobile devices have already proven to be very popular with our customers and through this cooperation with Ad Infuse and Minick, we are now able to complement our premium service with an ad-supported model,” said Marius Dano, Strategy Manager at Swisscom Mobile. “As a result our customers benefit by having more content available to them at a different price-point.”
Swisscom Mobile is Switzerland’s leading mobile telecoms provider, with more than 4.6 million mobile customers and Ad Infuse continues its landscape-changing work with them in this second phase.
“We continue to build our relationship with Swisscom Mobile by bringing together a network of important players in the mobile ad ecosystem,” said Stephen Upstone, Ad Infuse Managing Director of European Business Development. “Music is a great way to entice customers to start demanding more ad-supported content on their mobile devices. Music is what helped MySpace reach critical mass in the early days of online social networking, and with more mobile devices than PCs out there now, the possibilities in this space are even greater.”
