Samsung to work with Sprint Nextel to bring WiMax to New York
This is good news for the people in New York. South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced that they are collaborating with Sprint Nextel Corp. to launch WiMax internet services in the NYC.
The company added that Sprint picked them to supply the infrastructure for this project.
Incidentally, Sprint is also using Samsung’s technology for similar projects in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Boston and other cities.
Choi Gee-sung, president of Samsung’s telecommunication network business had this to say on this latest announcement: “New York is an important milestone for Samsung as we continue to expand the deployment of (WiMax) technology around the world.”
Sprint on their part announced that they are planning to go for a commercial launch of their service starting in Washington in April of next year.
