Updated Intel vPro Bundle offer better security

Microprocessor industry giant Intel has announced that they are updating their vPro bundle of automated PC management features to prove enhanced security features.

Intel announced these details at the ongoing Intel vPro Processor Technology for 2007.

The updated edition is being introduced today. Intel said that the updated package comes with the new “Weybridge” bundle of processor and chipset.

It improved security by automatically sending software patches to thousands of corporate PCs.

Intel added that this bundle also help companies reduce their power bills as the machines could now be told to enter a sleep state remotely.

The company further said that the bundle is being used by PC makers including HP, Dell and Acer to launch new products in the market.

Greg Bryant, general manager of Intel’s digital office platform division said in a statement: “Much security today is based on threats running in software on the OS, which has to be working for them to be effective. Some things, like how memory is accessed, is controlled by the chipset. So if we don’t do it, who is going to do it?”
