HULU: The video venture from NBC Universal and News Corp.
The latest challenger to the domination of Google owned YouTube video sharing service is named Hulu.
This project is being developed by a joint venture between News Corp and NBC Universal.
The two companies had announced their plans sometime back to develop a video portal to challenge the domination of YouTube on the web.
The two companies have now said that the site would be open for limited beta testing in October this year. This means that the launch has been delayed a bit.
Hulu spokeswoman Christina Lee had this to say on the ongoing progress at the company: “We just wanted a name that is short and easy to spell. We like the idea that it rhymes with itself. We wanted a fun name.”
Interested users would be required to submit their email ids at the service and the company would select the beta testers from this database.
