An Apple iMac for less than USD500
Rumor mills are out with more rumors related to Apple. And if we believe the trends, it just might come true. Other than the much awaited iTunes compatible mobile phones in collaboration with Motorola, Apple is also rumored to be making colored screen iPods with upgraded capacities of 80 Gigs hard drive. iPods running on Flash Memory instead of usual Hard Disks are also long due for a launch.
The latest in is that Apple is going to unveil a model of iMac for less than USD 500. The launch pad is expected to be Macworld Expo early next month. The computer is supposed to be based on a G4 processor placed in a small and compact flat cabinet. The machine is rumored to have the specs of a 1.25GHz processor and is expected to come with 80GB HDD and 256MB RAM.
The unit however will not include a display device, which would let prospective customers use their existing equipments or buy something of their choice. This would led to those users giving Mac platform a go who disliked replacing entire setup every few years as they get some flexibility in choosing the parts of the computer. And a Macintosh computer at 500 bucks is a lucrative offer.
Nothing is confirmed or reported by official sources in the company.
Apple products are rarely aimed at mass markets with low prices. However, the success of iPod has got them many potential buyers in a dilemma who wants to buy an iMac but cannot afford to. This offer just might give Apple a huge sale boost from this market of consumers.
