Rumors: Microsoft interested in acquiring Research in Motion

Research in Motion stock price jumped at the share market as the market now has a rumor that software giant Microsoft is interested in acquiring the makers of Blackberry smartphones.

Market analyst Frederic Ruffy stated in a report: “Microsoft has been mentioned as a possible buyer. According to speculation, the software giant might be interested in RIM in response to Google’s recent announcement that it is interested in making its own mobile phone operating system, which would compete with Windows Mobile.”

Google is also rumored to be in the process of launching a speculated Gphone device in several countries around the world.

This is not the first time that market has seen rumors of a potential acquisition deal of RIM. Sometime back, reports stated that Motorola was interested in acquiring the Blackberry maker.

On the other hand… Both Microsoft and RIM have declined to comment on these reports in the media.
