YouTube enters a deal with MCPS-PRS Alliance

Google owned video sharing service YouTube has entered into a deal with the MCPS-PRS Alliance.

The MCPS-PRS Alliance is a British licensing organization which collect royalties on behalf of 50,000 composers, songwriters and publishers.

This deal would allow the users of the YouTube service to use their songs legally into their videos.

Market reports stated that YouTube would now be paying a flat fee in exchange for licensing the library of music.

The Alliance represents creators of more than 10 million pieces of music and they would be deciding on how to distribute the revenues to its members.

This deal is expected to help YouTube lower the chances of facing more lawsuits related to usage of copyrighted material on their service by their users.
