Hewlett Packard now selling Red Hat powered PC in Australia
World’s largest personal computer maker Hewlett Packard has announced that they would soon launch a Red Hat Linux powered machine in the Australian market.
This PC would be priced starting at AU$ 600 and it would be powered with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop.
The model would be HP dx2250 desktop computer and it would feature an AMD microprocessor.
Customers would be able to choose from a a range of AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core, Athlon 64 and Sempron processors.
Max McLaren, General Manager at Red Hat in Australia and New Zealand spoke on this upcoming product: “With the cost of proprietary systems continuing to rise, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop minimizes acquisition and ongoing deployment costs, leaving more money and resources for other high-value projects and tasks.”
The OS would come preloaded with OpenOffice and Firefox open source applications.
