New York Times: NBC Universal canceling deal with Apple for iTunes

New York Times has reported in an article that the media company NBC Universal has decided against renewing its contract to sell their media on the hugely popular Apple iTunes store.

The report stated that they failed to reach an agreement with Apple related to the pricing. Apparently, NBC was not satisfied with their share of the revenues from the sales of the media on the Apple iTunes.

The report further claimed that the company’s media content accounts for about 40 percent of downloads.

NBC Universal has somewhat confirmed this report to media personals but no further details were provided.

This is the second major blow for Apple with respect to their Apple iTunes store. Universal Music Group is also not interesting in signing a long term deal with Apple and has made available the DRM Free version of their music catalog on rival stores.
