Sweden considering getting ISPs to monitor their customers
Swedish government is considering putting in orders which would require the internet service providers in the country to monitor the data usage of their customers.
They could soon be required by the law to cut off customers share online digitally pirated media.
A government appointed regulatory body has said in its report that illegal file-sharing was “a significant obstacle” to the development of legal alternatives to download copyrighted material on the web.
Justice Department investigator Cecilia Renfors added that the ISPs would have to take action against these customers who help in large scale online piracy.
The government is currently discussing the proposal and would soon be deciding on whether to implement this policy.
