Apple iPhone outselling rival smartphones!
Smartphone makers might have claimed that iPhone was not a rival considering it did not cater to business community but they would take notice of the latest report by iSuppli.
The research group said in a report that the Apple iPhone managed to outsold all smartphones in the United States in July.
Incidentally, July was the first full month of iPhone being made available on sale in the US market.
The report claimed that the iPhone mobile phone accounted for 1.8 percent of all U.S. mobile handset sales in the month of July.
The company further stated that they expect Apple to sell 4.5 million iPhones this year. The number can grow to an impressive 30 million by 2011.
The impressive feat is that the iPhone outsold popular smartphone models in the market including the Blackberry from RIM, the Treo range from Palm, and other competitive smartphone made by any other mobile phone maker in the US market.
iSuppli added: “While iSuppli has not collected historical information on this topic, it’s likely that the speed of the iPhone’s rise to competitive dominance in its segment is unprecedented in the history of the mobile-handset market. Apple achieved this in the face of numerous, well-entrenched competitors.”
