Facebook now allowing limited public searching of user profiles

Facebook network has been largely closed to the outer world. However, this is now set to change as the online social networking service is now going to allow limited searches of user profiles.

The company now plans to let search engine spiders to index the profiles of users who enables such an option.

This would allow non users of the Facebook service to find their friends and relatives on this network.

However, the information revealed to non users would be less than what someone could find simply by signing up.

Facebook users are however able to set the settings themselves and can be totally invisible to outside world.

Facebook engineer Philip Fung spoke on the new developments: “We think this will help more people connect and find value from Facebook without exposing any actual profile information or data.”
