Hewlett Packard launches Blackbird range of high end PCs
World’s largest personal computer maker Hewlett Packard has announced a new range of high end machines.
This new brand has been named Blackbird and this line has been developed by the company using the expertise gained from the acquisition of VoodooPC.
Philip McKinney, general manager of HP’s gaming unit spoke on this new range of computers: “We see the gaming market gaining significantly. We think there is significant opportunity in the market. There are a lot of Ferrari fans, but not many people can afford a Ferrari.”
HP faces intense competition in this segment of the market from Dell which acquired performance PC maker Alienware last year.
Dell also sells their own range of high end machines under its own XPS label.
The HP Blackbird range of machines would feature 1.1-kilowatt power supply and a liquid cooling system. They would be priced from $2,500 to $7,100. They would feature both Intel and AMD processors.
