Volvo S80 and XC90 SUV launched in India
Swedish automaker Volvo has now launched their two new products in the Indian market. The company has launched their S80 sedan and XC90 SUV.
These two products are priced starting at Rs 38 lakh and Rs 45 lakh, respectively. Volvo has made available two petrol (3.2 liter and 4.4 liter) and one diesel (2.5 liter) variant in both these cars.
Volvo Car India Managing Director Paul de Voijs had this to say at the launch ceremony: “India is a very exciting market and the luxury car segment is growing exponentially here. Now is the perfect moment for us to enter the market.”
They are going to sell these cars through their existing dealerships at Chandigarh, Mumbai and Delhi.
They are also working on expanding the dealership network to 9 cities by the end of 2008.
Voijs added: “The company would initially have three dealerships. We are in talks with 7-9 additional dealers across the country which might come up by the end of 2008.”
Volvo has priced their S80 sedan petrol edition at Rs. 38 lakh. The diesel version is cheaper by a lakh.
The petrol version of SUV X90 has been priced at Rs 46 lakh. Diesel version here is again cheaper by a lakh.
Volvo is currently importing these cars as completely built units (CBUs) from its manufacturing plant in Sweden.
