Apple iPod Touch, HTC Touch… Potential Lawsuit?
Apple has already suffered a lot due to naming conventions. They faced legal hassles with Creative when they launched the iPod nano. Creative used the nano keyword for some of their digital media players.
The company then announced the iPhone which again resulted in a lawsuit from Cisco which owned the trademark to the term.
Apple could now face another potential lawsuit from HTC which is the world’s largest maker of mobile devices based on Microsoft Windows operating system.
HTC Touch is a mobile phone produced by the company which is a direct competitor to the Apple iPhone.
And with the launch of iPod Touch, the company could face a trademark related lawsuit from HTC.
HTC president and CEO Peter Chou revealed little in his statement on hearing the launch of iPod Touch: “HTC Touch is a trademark, but I can’t comment right now.”
Apple has priced the iPod Touch at US$299 for an 8 GB model and $399 for the 16 GB variant.
