Mercedes-Benz plans to start selling fuel-cell cars from 2010
Luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz has announced that they are planning to start selling a hydrogen fuel cell powered car within the next three years.
The company plans to begin production of a small car powered by a hydrogen fuel cell by 2010.
Mercedes Benz said in its statement: “The small-scale series production of the B-Class F-Cell will begin in early 2010. The engine for this innovative vehicle will be a new generation of fuel-cell engine that is much more compact and yet at the same time more powerful and completely practicable for everyday use.”
The company added that the car’s engine would generate top output of 136 horsepower and perform on par with a two-liter petrol engine. It is expected to provide mileage equivalent to 100 kilometers per 2.9 liters of diesel fuel.
