Appro to launch quad-core Opteron powered servers

Appro has announced that they are going to launch a general-purpose rack server powered by the just launched AMD quad-core Opteron microprocessor.

This server product would be targeted at small businesses and would come with 1.5TB hot-swappable SATA hard disk drives and one PCI-Express x16 slot that supports 32GB of memory.

It is expected to be launched tomorrow and would serve the needs of companies requiring an entry-level single processor server as a building block for high-performance computing clusters and applications.

This server has been named 1U XtremeServer 1512H and would feature cable-free design. The company claims that it would be simple to install and ready to run. It would support both Windows and Linux operating system.

They would also be shipping this server product with its ServerDome software.
