Sprint Nextel to offer updated Microsoft mobile tools
US based mobile service provider Sprint Nextel has announced that they would soon offer updated Microsoft’s Web and local business search application on its phones.
These new tools uses technology which is able to pinpoints a caller’s location. The company also plans to offer a new voice-recognition search product from Microsoft to their mobile customers. This service would allow them to find local businesses by simply speaking into a handset.
Greg Sterling, founding principal of research firm Sterling Market Intelligence had this to say on this new service being planned by Sprint Nextel: “It’s not single-handedly going to unlock the potential for local mobile search, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.”
When this new technology is implemented, Sprint Nextel customers would find a new Windows Live search bar on Sprint’s menu page when they access the Web.
They would make this updated services available on all the compatible handsets for no extra charge.
