CBS Corp to avoid taking on Apple on iTunes pricing
CBS Corp has revealed that they currently have no plans to take on Apple over the pricing of their media content on the Apple iTunes store.
CBS Chief Executive Les Moonves said in a statement on this decision: “We’re sort of staying out of the battle. We like our relationship with iTunes.”
NBC Universal has already announced that they are not going to renew their contract with Apple as they prefer to have more flexible pricing.
Apple is against variable pricing of media on the iTunes store. Universal also is not signing on a long term deal with Apple.
Moonves added that they do not gain much from the revenues from iTunes. He said: “We look at iTunes as much as a promotional vehicle for our shows as a financial vehicle.”
