Hyundai Santa Fe to replace Tucson in India

Hyundai India plans to replace their existing SUV model Tucson in the domestic market with a brand new model named Santa Fe.

Their Santa Fe model has been pretty successful in their other markets and they would hope to create the same result here in India.

Hyundai has already launched the next-generation Santa Fe in USA and Europe and this model is now likely to come to India sometime next year.

The company is rumored to be already testing the car on Indian roads though nothing has been confirmed as yet.

A Hyundai India representative just had this to say: “There are no immediate plans to launch any SUV. We are focused on our new compact car (codenamed Pa) and the diesel variant of the premium hatchback Getz. A new SUV model may hit the market mid-2008.”

This new vehicle is likely to face enhanced competition from GM’s Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander, the new updated Mahindra Scorpio and Skoda Roomster.
