Intel joins WiMax Joint Venture In Japan
World’s largest microprocessor company Intel has announced that they would widely make available WiMax chipsets for laptops by next year.
The company has also teamed up with mobile service provider in the Japanese market KDDI as they aim to launch a WiMax network in this nation.
Intel announced their decision to join the Wireless Broadband Planning K.K. (WBPK). They are now going to seek a license from the Japanese government to operate WiMax technology based network in the country.
Some other members of this group are Kyocera, Daiwa Securities Group, the East Japan Railway, and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.
They are not alone in this initiative. NTT DoCoMo has created their own group in partnership with ACCA Networks based on the same technology.
